Philippines Missions Trip 2026 (Day 3): Through the Rain to Manila

Day 3 became a day of flexibility, patience, gospel opportunity, and safe travel as the team left Baguio for Manila through persistent rain.

An Early Change of Plans

The day began around 4:45 AM for our coordinator, when we learned that two of the vans expected for the day were unavailable because of the weather. The continuing rain also changed the breakfast plan, so the team ate at the hotel before leaving Baguio.

Prayer Before the Journey

Even in the middle of those changes, the Lord opened a door for ministry. During breakfast, Harry Johnson had the privilege of sharing Christ with a couple, and both trusted Christ as Savior. It was a wonderful reminder that gospel opportunities can come at any moment—even on a travel day.

After breakfast, team leaders shared updated transportation instructions. The team gathered outside in the rain for prayer, then loaded the luggage and ministry supplies and boarded the coach for the long journey to Manila.

Through the Rain to Manila

Leaving Baguio meant descending from the mountains through persistent rain and low clouds. Weather restrictions along the route and heavy runoff from the mountainside showed just how challenging the conditions had become.

The team remained flexible and patient as the coach continued toward Manila. Through every change and delay, we were grateful for the Lord’s protection and for the good spirit among the group.

The long travel day also gave everyone time to reflect on the ministry in Baguio and La Union and to look ahead to the opportunities awaiting us in Metro Manila.

Arrival and Preparation

After arriving in Manila, the team unloaded the luggage, checked into the hotel, and had a chance to settle in after the journey.

That evening, team leaders gathered in the hotel lobby to review the day and prepare for the next phase of ministry. After an early start and many hours on the road, everyone was thankful for a safe arrival and ready for some needed rest.

Day 3 did not unfold exactly as planned, but it was still a very good day. We praise God for the couple who trusted Christ at breakfast, for safe travel through difficult weather, and for His faithful care over the entire team.
