TYPHOON HAIYAN - DESTRUCTION AND LOSS
On November 8th, 2013, the island nation of the Philippines was ravaged by the hardest and most destructive typhoon to reach land in recorded history. In the wake of the storm, well over ten million Filipino people have been displaced, roads and bridges, seaports and supply services have been destroyed, the medical and emergency services seriously hampered and water, electricity and fuel compromised as well as basic sanitary and sewage containment severely hampered.

In tragedy, the devastating loss of life, of family, friends, and fellow countrymen is challenged by the stark reality of the loss of homes, businesses, jobs, entire villages, roads, services and infrastructure. The need is not only physical, expressed in so many ways, but spiritual as many people struggle emotionally and mentally with the toll of such loss and seek to make some sense of it all.
The long term healing and help for a people hurt by such devastation begins in the heart. The churches and the Christian community, both individually and corporately, are needed even more so in such an hour and time as this. Spiritual darkness can only be extinguished with spiritual light!
Churches and entire congregations have been devastated, and in many cases, destroyed; buildings and properties, Bibles and song books, pews and pulpits, parsonages and vehicles, equipment- all gone.
The materials are not available to replace many things, the tools and equipment needed to rebuild are caught in rebuilding the infrastructure, and the funds that are needed for the physical cannot help with the spiritual!
Spiritual darkness can only be extinguished with Spiritual Light!" ~Pastor Smith
The need to rebuild the churches is of the utmost importance if they are to rebuild the lives of the Filipino people, and the need for Bibles to guide them in the process is greater now than ever!
The Go Missions Haiyan Relief Project, in cooperation with Bible & Literature Missionary Foundation and Word of Faith Scripture Printing, is prepared to meet that need with a plan that allows God’s pastors and their people to provide the labor and the love needed to do the work and to get the Word out!
