BASIC DOCTRINAL BELIEFS
Our church's motto is "Founded on the Word, Focused on the World." Without the Bible as our foundation, we would be what many churches are today -- nothing more than social clubs where encouraging words are spoken but real change never takes place. With one visit to Faith, you'll find that not only do we have hundreds of people in attendance, we also have hundreds of Bibles! Each lesson that is taught, and each message that is preached, is based solely on the Word of God -- not personal opinion. The rustling of the pages as people turn to each Scripture along with the Pastor is an audible testimony of our firm conviction that God's Word changes lives!
Our Basic Doctrinal Beliefs
Scriptures l II Timothy 3:16-17 l II Peter 1:20-21
The Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God, and it is our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice. Every belief and teaching of Faith Baptist Church flows from God's Word. We believe the authorized King James Version of the Bible to be God's preserved Word for the English language.
Sovereign God l Deuteronomy 6:4 l I Corinthians 8:6
God is a person, eternally existing, a Trinity in unity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) -- three persons, yet one God.
Son l Luke 1:30-55 l John 1:1-15 l Philippians 2:5-8
Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became sinless man to redeem us. He was born of a virgin and is true God and true man.
Sin l Genesis 2:16 l Genesis 3:16-19 l Romans 3:10-23 l Romans 6:23
Man was created in the image of God, but chose to sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death -- eternal separation from God. As Adam's descendants, all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sin nature.
Sacrifice of Christ l Luke 24 l Acts 1:9-11 l Romans 5:8-10
The Lord Jesus suffered and died as a substitutionary payment for the sin of the whole world. He physically rose from the dead, and visibly ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in His sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind.
Soteriology l Matthew 24:29-42 l Revelation 19:11-20:13
Jesus will soon come again in the air to catch His church away to reward their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the earth to set up His kingdom for 1,000 years of righteous rule. Following this period, unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire to be separated from God forever, while believers will spend eternity in the fulness of joy in Heaven with our Lord.
